Uploading 'Large' Popup Images for osCommerce |
This article describes how to upload "Large" images that popup when a customer clicks the "Click to Enlarge" link under a standard image on the product page of an osCommerce Online Shop created by TOSD.
The application used is called phUploader and this will be installed into your hosting account by TOSD. If that has not been done please ask. The application is password protected and the password will be the same as your osCommerce admin one. You can upload up to 10 files at once and they will be automatically saved to the correct directory. If you need to do more at a time just click the back link and upload the rest. Summary of the whole process of uploading images: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. 'Standard' images (typically 200px x 200px x 72dpi) are uploaded using the osCommerce admin product info page in the normal way. In all probability you will have already done that when you created the product. "Standard images are not uploaded by phUploader. 2. 'Large' images (typically 400px x 400px x 72dpi) are uploaded using the phUploader utility. As mentioned above this is installed in your hosting account at the following address: http://www.yourdomain.com.au/phUploader/phUploader.php There is no special software required on your local PC. File naming - very important -------------------------------------- For the 'Click to enlarge' link to display under the standard image, and for the whole popup enlargement system to work, the filename of the 'large' image must be EXACTLY the same as the 'standard' image. e.g if the standard image is ja9454.jpg then the large image must also be ja9454.jpg. You can't have one as ja9454sm.jpg and the other as ja9454lg.jpg And you can't have one as ja9454.jpg and the other as JA9454sm.jpg Case is important, and use letters and numbers only as in this example. No spaces and no funny characters (*&^%$#@!><: etc) If you want a separation in a filename it is OK to use the underscore. e.g. ja_9454.jpg Another tip is to keep the image filename the same as the product model. It helps you keep track of which image goes with what product. Housekeeping note --------------------------- You will not be able to keep the standard images and the large images in the same directory on your PC because they have the same filename. Rather store them in separate directories. I suggest you set up the following directory/folder structure:
