Uploading Images with aceFTP |
This tutorial describes how to upload images so that they are accessible to FCKeditor.
Warning: proceed with care whenever you are working with FTP clients. In effect they work as a remote file manager with the ability to delete files. Should this occur inadvertently your shop may become inoperative. Use AceFTP to establish an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) connection with your server. When the connection is established the screen will display two file manager panels. The one on the left you will use to navigate to the image file on your own PC that you want to send to your online shop. The right hand panel (see below) displays the directory structure, and the files within each directory, on your server. As an initial check make sure that this panel is the same as the one below. There may be some variation depending on the particular features of your shop but essentially it should look very similar. As with any file manager, clicking on a folder icon next to a directory will open the folder and display the files within it. ![]() Normally images are transferred to the [Userfiles/image] directory of your server - check with TOSD if you are unsure about this. Navigate to this directory by clicking on the folders in the usual way. Any existing images that have already been uploaded will be displayed. To upload (transfer) an image file, first use the left hand panel of AceFTP to navigate to the image file on you PC that you want to upload. Select (higlight) it, then click on the arrow pointing to the right (the white arrow on a blue button shown in the screenshot above) to transfer it to your online shop. The image file should now appear in the [UserFiles/image] folder of your server and be displayed in the right hand panel of AceFTP. When you have finished transferring files select [File/Disconnect] from the AceFTP menu to break the FTP connection and then exit. |
